2008 - 2009 REDWOOD HIGH MUSIC DEPARTMENT CHORUS
This class is designed as a project and performance-based workshop focusing on singing in a large ensemble, small groups and solo vocal performance.
All styles of music, such as folk, blues, rock, country, classical, bluegrass, jazz, personal composition, modern and contemporary pop/rock will be explored, learned and implemented through the course of this class. Ear-training, Theory and Reading are also basic skills that are an important component of this course.
This is a project and performance-based class and students will be graded objectively according to assigned work, and subjectively according to their participation, progress, and natural talent/skill. Class Music will be chosen by the director as well as chosen by the students, and should fit the make-up, nature and skill level of the singers involved.
Grades are weighted primarily on showing up, participation and attitude. Making the best music possible will always be the goal.
- Audio recordings of the students solo work will be part of the portfolio of their work in this class. - Large Ensemble Performance. - Collaboration with Jazz and Performance Workshop / Various solo and small group work. - Learning guitar, piano or other accompaniment instrument (optional to those interested). - Back-up singing / R&B, Soul, Jazz, etc.
